Why did you pick your name?

Mine's a loose anagram of family names, with the bonus that it always reminds me fondly of a young woman (Shaelynn) who played my daughter in Macbeth many years ago- we stayed in touch for a long time though that's sadly fallen away.

Since there are approximately five billion Jens on this site it helps to use it as a distinguishing name at events. Like JCon. Come to JCon everyone! :D

Totally random letters. For both Arie and "Tarou" (pronounced Tarot- because japanese pronounce or something.) It's kinda become my name in all respects of my life in some way. Davion is from Battletech books and I blame JD for it. :D

(Yes, come to JCon! :fistbump)

My name was what my mother wanted to name me, but my bio-dad vetoed. I've been low-key sad about it for years because I think it's sort of a little glamorous, so when I got the chance I went with it. My mom got so excited!
My last name is my maiden and married names mushed. Not terribly creative overall, but I love it.

My (previous) main character in World of Warcraft is named Sareatha (a name I came up with based on numerology years ago) but everyone called me Sar. When I made an alt I wanted to keep Sar since I liked it so I combined Sar with my real name Amy, added an extra R to make it look better and bam... Sarramy was born. Valtiele is just a name that popped into my head, no real meaning behind it.

I picked Stasia because I was really obsessed with the famous Anastasia (of missing Russian princess fame) at the time. For my last name, I wanted to be Saldaean... hence the t'... I didn't fully get at the time that it implied I was married. At the time, I definitely was not. But I wouldn't change it now. :pleased-1: The rest of the last name just sounded cool to me.

I picked Ismene because after browsing through a list of Tower members, I wanted a name that started with a letter that very few other people used, and "I" had the least number of people at the time. Ismene is Antigone's sister - I like that character because she's a bit of goody-goody who follows the rules (unlike Antigone) and she's also very pragmatic and a survivor.

I chose Gillandred by taking my last name and kind of playing with it a bit and adding a "dred" at the end to make it sound more Cairheinen.

I was indecisive between my two favorite fantasy characters: Polgara (David Eddings' books) and Nynaeve. I needed something to "glue" those two names together, eventually settling on a portion of Egwene's name because she kinda "glued" the entire group together in EotW.

I was pleasantly surprised when Egwene's storyline finally arced, and she became more of a primary character in the latter books. :horsey

"Nemeara" because I wanted something similar to "al'meara" out of admiration of Nynaeve's spunkiness, but didn't want to completely copy her surname.

I used variations of the name for roleplaying back in the day, and then used it for the main character in a novel I was working on 12/13 years ago... It remains unfinished :rofl

My first name I took from the Mithgar series from Dennis McKiernan that I really enjoyed! (I really need to reread them.) She is a character in at least one of his books. She's a Warrow aka small folk. They closely resemble elves, but are smaller. Also, I love Fae, Faeries, etc. so it seemed to fit.

My last name I probably pronounce different than at first glance. I pronounce it Moon-leer. I didn't want to do the obvious spelling of Moon so instead started out with it spelled like "Rune/Mune" but removed the e. I'm a moon child, Cancer, so that's why I incorporated it in my last name.

I also like your name, Maple!

Well, when I first started at Netland White Tower, I was absolutely there for escapism into another world through roleplay. I wanted a name close to my own - and I was in my late teens - so I went with "Jenisi Tucolleen." I just tried to fantasy it up a bit!

It's pronounced je-NEE-see too-COLL-een.

In an Age of Legends side campaign we were doing, Jenisi in her past life was Jendalyne Mayani Ra'collene. I actually like the name "Jendalyne" better in some ways, and I use it as my main character's name when playing Lord of the Rings Online. However, I couldn't resist being "Jenisi" on a WoT site again.

I chose to go by "Jenisi Nolain" here because of my husband, Aeric. On Silklantern/Portalstones, he was raised Aeric Kislan; however an epic storyline eventually revealed his real last name was Nolain. He switched to Nolain at the end of our playing at Portalstones, and our intentions were to marry in character and I would take that name. :) The site went down before we managed that one, so I'm using it here as a nod.
