I have not yet finished the Crossroads of Twilight yet, but a question popped into my head last night and I felt I needed to ask it. Just please avoid any potential spoilers...

Thank you for reading.

Some of the answers may likely make other questions pointless and some answers should probably be obvious to me, but I figured it was also possible that some answers were never provided and it is up to us to discuss and try to figure out. The philosophies and physics of multi-dimensional universe are, well, infinite. The basis of my understanding for the Wheel of Time is that there is not simply one Wheel. The ending of one age is the full turning of the Wheel and the beginning of another, but the once the pattern is weaved in an age, it remains for all time. Another philosophy, I suppose, is that there is only one Wheel, but the pattern continues being weaved over and over on top of itself like a layered fabric. Please read through the questions first, but don't feel that it is necessary to answer all of even one of my questions.

The One Power, with its divisions between the male and female halves is the main source of power for the Aes Sedai and the Asha'man in the current world. Rand's visions in Rhuidiean of the past world, before the War of Power, pointed to an attempt to access the True Power. Mierin and Beidomon try to reach the source of this "new power," only to find that it comes from, or seems to come from, the Dark One. The Forsaken who wield the True Power have those black flecks, the saa, that float in front of their eyes from the use of it. Essentially, use of the True Power seems to not be known to anyone other than the Forsaken and maybe some other Darkfriends or Shadowspawn. So here are the questions that this summary of my understanding raises for me:

:desk:scratch:hello

Did the attempt to use the True Power create the bore, thus releasing the Dark One?
-If so, how was he imprisoned or kept out so well before, that it seems he never would have escaped/entered without tricking them into creating the bore into the pattern?

Wouldn't the bore have always been there, considering the cyclical nature of the WoT, or are there other realms/dimensions that are untouched by the Dark One? Or was the Age of Legends the first time that the Dark One really touched the world that we read about? I understand that there were many other Dragons as well, but in what world(s)?

Does the Dark One have his own realm that he cannot physically leave and therefore needs to bore through the patterns of multiple Wheels in order to access a specific pattern/Wheel? Is he attempting to bore into every pattern and every Wheel?

Does the True Power actually come from the Dark One or is it just another form of the power that he corrupted?

If the True Power does come from the Dark One, does the One Power come from the Creator?

Does the True Power allow the user to draw on both saidar and saidin simultaneously and equally, since it is a "unified" version of the power? What are those saa?

Was the One Power split into the male and female halves by the creator to create balance and foster cooperation? What was the ultimate reason?
Did the Dark One split the One Power into the male and female halves to cause division and weaken the Power?

If I recall, the bore was drilled into the pattern by Lanfear and a male Channeler she was in a link with.

The Bore itself is the hole in the pattern created by the drilling, the area the bore was made in is I think just a thin part in the pattern.

Thank you Aduiavas Sedai and Ryu. I figured it would basically come down to reading the rest of the series for most of those answers.

I did manage to find out that it was Mierin and Beidomon who created the bore when they performed their experiment to access the True Power source. They destroyed the barrier around the source and created the bore while destroying Sharom. Also, only those sworn to the Dark One are able to use the True Power, so it is definitely in his control. Both genders can access it and it is undetectable, well except by the gholam.

Yes, that is correct about the Bore. That we learned in the flashbacks Rand had in the ter'angreal in Rhuidean in Shadows Rising.
As for the True Power, it is in short the essence of the Dark One. Very dangerous...

Well, to be honest, I am still in my first reading of the series so I do expect to miss some things as I go. RJ has a habit of mentioning something in one book and not coming back to the importance of it a couple books later, or even at the end of the book. Plus, he does also like to alter timelines between characters, so you have to really pay attention and then figure out if what you just read happened before the last 10 chapters, in the middle, or after.
